Point Samson Local Area

The beautiful sandy beaches of Point Samson are protected by fringing coral reefs offering good protection for swimming, snorkelling or even a spot of fishing. The tidal rivers of the area contain an immense variety of fish and other sea delicacies including Catfish, Barramundi, Prawns, Blue Manna crabs and huge Mud Crabs.

Roebourne, Cossack, Millstream Chichester National Park and Karijini national Park are just some of the regional sightseeing attractions which are all close to Point Samson Resort.

Karijini & Millstream Chichester National Parks
Travel by car to Karijini National Park situated in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and hosts the fantastic Hamersley Range and its stunning rocky contours. You can find out about the park from the Karijini people at the Interpretive Centre, situated to the south west of the park.

Old Port of Cossack
The Old Port of Cossack was established when Walter Padbury, the first settler in the region, charted the harbour and named it Tien Tsin after the barque which had brought him to the area. In 1871 the name was changed to Cossack.

The townsite was officially declared in 1872 and by 1887 a horse drawn tramway had been built connecting the port with the town of Roebourne.

The historic settlement has been painstakingly restored and give a fascinating insight to lives of the early Pilbara settlers.
